Our Own Jr First Citizen

It's not every day that one of our team members receives public recognition for their hard work and dedication to the community. But last Saturday was that day! Every year the Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce has a Distinguished Service Awards banquet that they host. They give out awards to people in the community that show exceptional interest and commitment to helping Sweet Home and its organizations perform and grow. Aka people who volunteer a ton and help out wherever they can.

Now pretty much every member of our team volunteers in one capacity or another. It's just part of who we are and the culture we keep. But our very own Christopher Chapman volunteers a crazy amount. Okay maybe that's overstepping a little, but if he isn't working, he is usually helping in some capacity.

His most recent endeavors include volunteering for a club he is a part of, the East Linn Treasure Seekers, who use their hobby of metal detecting to raise money for a local charity. To date, they have raised somewhere in the realm of $16k plus or minus for the Kids Food Pak program. He also volunteers on the board of the Art Show-Sweet Home, which is responsible for developing platforms in which local artist can display their artwork. Their current project is working with the City of Sweet Home where they have turned City Hall into an art gallery. To date, they have hosted multiple shows to a shockingly huge success. Most of his time however is spent assisting the Sweet Home Police Department as a volunteer for their Community Outreach Department. He helps put on events, including organizing logistics, finding sponsors, and even cooking hot dogs if needed. He also is responsible for moving the radar trailer around town. So if you want to know where not to speed, best become his best friend!

All in all he does a lot and this is just the "on the books" stuff he does. He spends many of nights creating logos and marketing pieces for local organizations and businesses just out of the desire to see them succeed. We don't usually go around tooting our own horn, it isn't our style but this was a special occasion. We know he doesn't volunteer to receive accolades but he truly does deserve this award and we are so proud of him!
